here are a few facts that i have recently discovered by doing some research.. the watchtower society uses the date of 539 b.c.e as the date that cyrus took over babylon.
they use the term "absolute date" to define this as an unquestionable point in time.
to do this they had to ignore 586 b.c.e which is the real date for the destruction of jerusalem.. therefore, if jerusalem never lay desolate for 70 years, when does this desolation and fulfillment of this prophecy take place?

But before Adam sinned god simply told him that he would die the day he ate from the tree of Knowledge. But according to you not only did god decide to increase birthpains for the woman and curse the ground for man to make it harder for him to raise crops, but he also turned the earth into the constantly changing place it is today, with its earthquakes, tidal waves, volcanic eruptions and floods. Why was it not changed back after Christ's death?
By the way, have you ever looked at things like the geological record, antarctic ice cores, the fossil record or even dendrochronolgy, which show the Earth's geological activity going back millions of years?

Why should this be the case? For what possible reason would a 'loving' god stretch the time period of wars, famines and natural disasters 2000 years beyond the death of Jesus? And on top of that to make it even more difficult for man to solve the Earth's problems he's also thrown Satan down to mislead mankind and 'blind the minds' of unbelievers. Not exactly a fair playing field is it?
Fortunately I see end-time religions for what they are, nonsense. The bible writers expected Jesus to return in their lifetime. This generation will by no means pass away, remember? Failed expectations should not be turned into future prophecies.

i've just read an intersting article on the flood to do with dates and whether is was truly global or a regional flood.. http://www.commentarypress.com/essay-flood.html.
my father used to be an elder for many years and the flood was one of the things that made him walk away not just from the jw but also belief in the bible.
he was hung up on issues like the flood taking place about 3500 bc and how that fit in with the pyramids.. i don't know much about egyptian history or the ages of the big pyramids, but his reasoning was if the flood wiped out every human on earth except noah etc then at 3500 bc there were only 8 people on earth.

I believe God has also given us many other approximate 400s. The sun is about 400 times as far away from us as the moon. It is this "400" relationship which produces total solar eclipses

No, I wouldn't agree. Let's start with ecology. While I'll admit that mankind has polluted the planet, this is nothing compared to past natural geophysical events which have caused many mass extinctions. For instance, in the late Permian extinction (245 million years ago) around 95% of all marine species were lost. 75% of all land vertebrates also became extinct. Now either the 'biblegod' thinks most of his creations are not worth keeping, or natural climate changes are a continuing problem for life on earth.
Is mankind ruining the earth morally? Well, can you think of anything more immoral than this " Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known man by lying with him. But all the young girls who have not known man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves." Go on, read Numbers 31 and then talk about morality!
Is mankind ruining the earth spiritually? I find very little if any spirituality in the Old Testament, but a little more in the New Testament. I think more and more people are looking for something different than the biblegod who throws thunderbolts at everyone he dislikes.
